WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO…

Sylvia Lea headed to Paris for a week long multi brand pop up in the heart of Le Marais. Taking the brand beyond London and introducing the Gentlewoman Collection to an international audience was such an exciting moment for us.

There was something very Sylvia Lea about seeing our tailoring in Paris. Strong silhouettes, beautiful streets and plenty of opportunities for a post shopping glass of wine. It was a chance to meet new customers, see the collection styled in completely different ways and take another step towards growing Sylvia Lea beyond the UK.

PARIS, LE MARAIS

Back on home ground, we brought Sylvia Lea to High Street Kensington for our London pop up.

Being able to meet the women behind the orders is always one of our favourite parts of doing events in person. Customers could finally try on the pieces they had seen online, discover different ways to style the Gentlewoman Collection and experience the fit and details of the clothes properly.

The whole idea behind Sylvia Lea is creating pieces that work together and move with you from one part of your day to the next, so seeing women put their own spin on the collection is always incredibly rewarding.

HIGH STREET KENSINGTON, LONDON

One of our earliest pop ups took Sylvia Lea to Truman Market in the heart of Brick Lane.

It was an important moment in the early days of the brand and one of the first opportunities we had to introduce Sylvia Lea to customers face to face. Surrounded by independent designers, creatives and some of East London’s best fashion, it felt like exactly the right place for us to start.

Looking back, it is particularly special to see how much the brand has evolved since then, from those first conversations with customers to taking Sylvia Lea to new locations and audiences.

SYLVIA LEA IN BRITISH VOGUE

A slightly surreal one.

Sylvia Lea was featured in the April, May and June editions of British Vogue as part of its designer profiles.

Seeing the brand in the pages of a publication that has been part of the fashion world for generations was a huge milestone for us, particularly as a young independent label. From sketching pieces in London to opening a copy of British Vogue and seeing Sylvia Lea printed inside, it was definitely one of those moments we will never forget.

LONDON FASHION WEEK

Sylvia Lea also made its way onto the streets of London Fashion Week.

Wearing the brand ourselves has always been an important part of Sylvia Lea. The clothes are designed for real days, real plans and women who want to feel put together without feeling overly dressed. During London Fashion Week, Sylvia Lea was photographed by Alan Chapman, with imagery appearing through Dave Benett and Getty Images.

A little reminder that sometimes the best way to introduce people to your clothes is simply to wear them.

From Brick Lane to Kensington, Paris and the pages of British Vogue, every Sylvia Lea moment so far has felt like another piece of the story.

We are still an independent London brand, still producing in small quantities and still completely obsessed with making the perfect suit. The only difference is that the world around Sylvia Lea is getting a little bigger.

And we are only getting started.
